Project Overview: Tailing Line Upgrade for MMG

Client Challenge

MMG approached ECP Polyurethanes to address long-term durability issues with their tailing line. The existing system, composed of unlined steel pipe, was suffering from severe corrosion and abrasive wear. ECP’s Specthane Lined Pipe was selected as the solution to these challenges.

Scope of Supply

ECP Polyurethanes was contracted to deliver 4,400 meters of 250nb pipework. This included 12-meter-long spools, various shorter lengths, and a range of long radius bends from 15 degrees to 90 degrees.

Timeline

Manufacturing began in May 2020, and we successfully completed the full 4,400 meters of pipeline within four months, aligning with the installation schedule.

Performance and Support

As of 2024, all pipework supplied in 2020 remains fully operational, demonstrating a marked improvement over the previous unlined steel pipes. The Specthane Lined Pipe has significantly enhanced the durability and performance of the tailing line. ECP continues to provide support to MMG and its operations at Dugald River.
